Kettles Management

MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY POLICY 2026-2031

Statement of Commitment:
At Kettles we have always been committed to providing access to our services for our customers and employees. As a small business our goal is to treat our customers and employees like family. We strive to meet the needs of our  mployees and customers with disabilities and continue to work to remove barriers to accessibility. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (the “AODA”) is an Ontario law that was created to develop, implement and enforce accessibility standards in order to achieve accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities. We are committed to meeting the requirements under the AODA and to continued commitment by showing we care and are willing to
accommodate. Our accessibility plan shows the steps we have taken and continue to take to meet those requirements and to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.

The plan is reviewed and updated at least once every 5 years. It is available to the public when
requested.

We are committed to creating policies that encourage the principles of dignity, respect and equal opportunity for people with disabilities. We train every person as soon as they are hired and provide training when updates have been made.

Customer Service
We are committed to excellence in serving and providing goods, services or facilities to all customers including people with disabilities. Our staff are trained to answer the telephone and speak in a clear manner so that people can understand them. In our restaurant we welcome the use of assistive devices by persons with disabilities in order
to obtain service. Some examples of assistive devices are walkers, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks.

Employment

We are committed to accessibility by preventing and removing barriers. Where it is not possible to remove barriers, we will make efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities. Kettles will notify its employees and the public about the availability of accommodation for applicants with disabilities during that hiring process. We will notify job applicants that accommodations are available upon request. If the applicant requests an accommodation, Kettles will consult with the applicant and provide suitable accommodation for applicants accessibility needs. Employees selected for job interviews will be notified that accommodations will be provided.

Policies and Training

We have developed policies and procedures, and trained employees in accordance with the requirements under the AODA and the Ontario Human Rights Code that relate to persons with disabilities. Training will be provided when an employee is hired and provided when changes have been made to our policies or procedures.

The notice will explain the reason and the anticipated length of time the disruption will occur. It will also provide temporary alternative facilities or services that can be used by persons with disabilities, when available.

Example: The automatic door opening not working and having to temporarily manually open it until it is repaired. A staff member would be assigned to operate the door until it is fixed.

Service Animals and Service workers:
Service animals and also support workers are a common sight at kettles. We welcome and accommodate them. An animal is a service animal if it meets the following:

  2. The person provides documentation from a regulated health professional (e.g. doctor or nurse) confirming that the person requires the animal for reasons relating to the disability.

Examples of service animals are guide dogs, mobility animals, and seizure alert animals. People with disabilities can use their Service Animals in the parts of kettles open to the public or to third parties.

If it’s not obvious to us that it is a service dog, then a manager may have questions. The on duty manager may request documentation from a regulated health profession such as a letter or form to confirm it is a service dog. Service animals must be in control of the person using or caregiving using the dog.
